Artist Statement: “The graphite painting ‘The Head Exchange: Eve’ is the first of a series of buried heads I am creating with the Head Exchange series. Like “The Watchtower”, this piece came about from my desire to create a work of art that documents a relationship. This piece also talks about the joy and fear that comes with discovering something buried.”
For COMPANY, ‘The Head Exchange: Eve,’ is a haunting reminder of the fragility and circumscribed nature of life. The fossil like head is reminiscent of a memory frozen in time, literally. Could this face be the one of a loved one? Forever captured in the library of our mind’s memory. The curator’s at COMPANY appreciate the thought-provoking aspect of the piece and its imaginative qualities.
